Someone's Gonna Get Fired

I'm sure by now you've heard about the shoe-throwing incident with the President. While we could all make up shoe jokes all day, I'm fascinated by the fact that I have yet to hear anyone ask the question I want to ask which is, "Where the heck were the Secret Service guys while our President was being pelted with Iraqi shoes?"

In fact, for your convenience I have posted the CNN news story below. Watch the President's impressive ducking maneuver and the slower-than-molasses SS guy who finally makes it up there after the last shoe lands.

Someone's gonna get his bootie handed to him at the post-mortem.

By the way, I would like to say, Mr. President, after all our disagreements, I am very impressed by your quick reflexes and now I feel a little bit bad because I laughed at David Letterman's Great Moments in Presidential Speeches.

  1. You know why W ducked so neatly? He's been practising. The CIA picked up some "web chatter" about a "credible threat" of a shoe throwing.

  2. What a strange incident. I heard about it but hadn't watched it yet. And kudos to the President for his mad ducking skills!!! That was impressive.

  3. OMG...I didn't hear about this (I don't watch the news much). That is crazy (and kinda funny...am I bad?). Oh well...I have had some good laughs with Letterman!

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday - always nice to have a new person visit!

I certainly agree with you. I was amazed that there were no Secret Service guys pulling the President to the floor, etc. when that guy started throwing his shoes.

I appreciate that these things happen fast and are completely unexpected -- but, then again, that's what the Secret Service are trained to deal with. Love him or hate him, he is still our President and it makes a person upset to see some crazy person do such things.

You certainly have a nice blog and I enjoyed stopping by.

    Take care.

  5. ... and to think it could have been a shoe bomb, or ninja star footwear equivalency (NSFE).
