Racial Unity Through Furniture Sales

I shamelessly stole this video from a cool blogger named Chris who writes over at his very witty blog Diary of Dadness.

It's way too bizarre not to share. Beyond that, I'm pretty speechless at the moment.

  1. Hmm, the whole time I'm watching it I'm thinking black, white and red - maybe it's some kind of play on words. But the guy with the beard in the weird singing duo could totally be Kirk from Gilmore Girls!

  2. OMG, this is genius. I don't know if it's supposed to be hilarious or not, but I can't stop laughing. Or singing that jingle.

  3. Frankly, I don't know what to make of that. It's pretty funny.

  4. I saw this on TV the other week. I find it is like when I was a kid and would put 4 or 5 pieces of Hubba Bubba in my mouth and not know how to chew it...

  5. Ummm...yeah....Wendy, I am following suit & I am totally posting this one on my facebook account! ROTF I don't know if you've ever watched "Flight of the Conchords", but it totally looks like something that the main characters from that show would do!! LOL We LOVE that show.
Once again, thanks for the laugh (and I will credit your blog as my origin of exposure).
    Have a great one!

  7. You gotta wonder what their marketing budget is, don't ya??!! This is one of the strangest commercials I've ever seen!

  8. That definitely threw me for a loop! And it just wouldn't end. I was waiting and waiting for a punch line & it never came.

I had to google that store. Turns out (I guess) that commercial is real. They were trying to be funny in a Saturday Night Live kind of way. I'd say they succeeded, but I'm not so sure everyone's going to get in on that joke. Pretty sure my grandma is *not* going to get it. Sure makes you remember the name of their store though, doesn't it?

    Excellent find. Totally nuts.

  9. So funny how each person had to announce what color he or she was, despite the fact that we're all getting the same visual input. Also hilarious how they throw Hispanics in as an after-thought. But where's the love for us Asians? Do we have to shop down the street at the place with the even lower ad budget?

I actually think more commercials should be like this. I really appreciate the from-the-heart homemade feel.

  10. Aaaaaat the REEEEEEED House!!

    Boy, I'm hooked.

    It's so.....progressive, visionary.

    I'm almost in tears.

  11. oh great...now I'll be singing that horrific jingle for the REST OF THE DAY! It's the guys singing the jingle from the laying-on-the-ground-camera-pointing-up-for-a-differenct-look that slays me, more than anything!

  13. I've actually seen this, and know what it is. Rhett & Link are the wonderful men who created this insane commercial for that store. Those guys are awesome singers/song writers, and their stuff is always hilarious.

  14. I grew up in Greensboro, which is the city next to High Point (where the store is located). I'm sure a lot of people in High Point did NOT get the humor, but it's brilliant. If you haven't seen any of Rhett & Link's other stuff, you should definitely check it out -- they're hilarious: http://rhettandlink.com/videos/#. The surrogate sharers videos are particularly clever.
