What I Contend With

Sorry for the fuzzy photos below, but I'm lucky to have gotten these at all. We were at a baseball game and I was trying to get some action scenes on the field. I happen to notice that Tristan had wandered off (my mom was supposed to be watching him while I was getting some shots) and I think he was just leaving to go home or something. He's not one of those kids who wanders a little way and then comes back when he feels like he's gotten too far from his mom. Nope, he'll just keep on going.

I think he might have been heading to Michigan. That's the direction he was pointing anyway.

He got up the hill and I yelled down to my mom to go get him (I was standing precariously at the top of the bleachers in some slippery, mud-covered crocs). She rushed off to chase him down and yelled, "TRISTAN, YOU GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!"

He turned, crossed his arms and said, "No!"

And she said, "Don't you tell Grandma no or you're gonna get a spankin'!"

And he goes, grudgingly. But look at that face!

  8. I'm thinking 17. Yep, age 17. Better prepare Ma. He'll either be sweet as hell or trouble deluxe and you'll understand the separation order that naturally develops in regard to their going off to college.

    Yup! 17. Admire that spirit.

  9. Ooooh! We had some bad scares with our then 5 year old last year at his big brother's games. I looked at him, turned, looked back and he was *gone*. He decided to go to the bathroom, about half a mile away. So scary.

Thankfully, he'll be playing this year.

  11. I get like that sometimes, wander off, get called back, and then grudgingly return, I just don't look as cute as your little guy while doing it. Mi Amore tells me when I make a face like that it looks like I got something stuck up my...well, you know.

  15. Lawyer Mom and Tati: I have to tell you how hard I'm laughing. That's my mom back there. LOL! The outfit is great, the boots are great, just... NOT TOGETHER FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE. And to top it off she is wearing my husband's fireman coat which is about 5 sizes too big for her.

The "just got out of a homeless shelter" look is fashionable 'round these parts. :)
